Learn to unlearn-Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

A rare conversation between Ramkrishna Paramahansa & Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekanand:- I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic.

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you free.

Swami Vivekanand:- Why has life become complicated now?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:- Stop analyzing life.. It makes it complicated. Just live it.

Swami Vivekanand:- Why are we then constantly unhappy?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:- Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy.

Swami Vivekanand:– Why do good people always suffer?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer.

With that experience their life becomes better, not bitter.

Swami Vivekanand:- You mean to say such experience is useful?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons .

Swami Vivekanand:– Because of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading…

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides the way.

Swami Vivekanand:– Does failure hurt more than moving in the right direction?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you.

Swami Vivekanand:- In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Swami Vivekanand:- What surprises you about people?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:- When they suffer they ask, “why me?” When they prosper, they never ask “Why me?”

Swami Vivekanand:– How can I get the best out of life?

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Swami Vivekanand:– One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

Ramkrishna Paramahansa:– There are no unanswered prayers. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Celebrate your failures and Face Adversities

Celebrate Failure as you celebrate success.Todays post is a chapter from my book The Reflection “Success or Stress” Choose Wisely

Winning has been over glorified and we forget that it is through learning from and losing that we become greater winners!

It’s better to give your best shot without thinking about the result. You may not succeed in one go, so what at least 10-15 years down the line one day you won’t wake up with a regret of not attempting it .Only those who know how to fail understand the true value of success in life.

Failing is considered a taboo. We measure people by their achievements. We put a high value on “success” but little or no value on “failure”.

Is there little or no value in falling? If that is so, why is it that all lives of great men that I have had the good fortune to read about – the tougher the failures they suffered, the greater they finally became?

Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.

“Comparison Begets Regrets”

Have you ever faced failure in life and don’t know how to overcome it? Are you still dwelling on your past wherein you should be concentrating more on your future? Read on and find out how to overcome adversity in life.

Life is smooth till such time a wave of adversity does not swipe us off the ground. Ups and downs are part of life and there is nothing we can do about it because the Universe has its own way of working. Things that we desire the most are not given to us and what we get is not what we desire.

We all have a goal, the desire to succeed and also work hard towards it. During our struggle to meet our goals, we succeed at times and at times we face very sever and adverse failures, but then that’s not the end of road. Some people fight back and many succumb to the circumstances.

It is not wrong to fail, but it is a crime if you don’t get back up again and try. Look around you… look at the birds and animals. They keep trying to survive by hunting for food, at times they get it early and at times they fail. But if they start thinking that this whole process of finding food does not result into anything, then they would not survive.

If you fail and hit the ground hard, always remember, the only way where you can go is UP.

In the words of Henry Ford:

“Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and grieves which we endure help us in our marching onward.”

Tips to counter Failure :

Stop blaming yourself and people associated with you

You might have tried very hard and failed but you should always remember that not all circumstances are under your control. When people fail, they usually don’t try to find out why they failed, but instead they start blaming themselves.

Do you blame yourself for a failure? Do you really think that you were responsible for your failure? Do you really think that despite trying very hard, you did not get through? We all try hard and then at times we fail. Many reasons could be attributed to it. Instead of blaming ourselves (which is easy), we should try to find the reason why we failed. By doing this, not only will you have a greater understanding where you went wrong, but you will avoid repeating the same mistake in the next attempt.

Don’t ever think that all your efforts have been wasted

To achieve something in life a dedicated effort is required. Some people give it their 100% and some people don’t. But no matter what, none of your efforts ever get wasted. In the process of trying again and again, we gain experience of the mistakes we should avoid to achieve the desired result. Taking the example of Thomas Edison, the man who invented Light Bulb, he failed over 1000 times before he could derive at the bulb that we use today. At a press conference he announced that he now knows 1000 ways of how not to make a light bulb.

Never get disheartened and always enjoy learning the new things that you discover on your way to be successful.

Try another approach

You try once, twice and then thrice… with a similar approach; and then what do you do? Give Up!!! Have you ever thought that the approach that you use to achieve something is wrong and would require either a complete new way of looking at things or would require you to tweak your approach a little and then try again? All scientific discoveries and inventions have taken years of hard work and dedication. Do you think that doctors and scientist across the world have got a working model of their inventions in the very first attempt? Do you think that for all repeated attempts at their inventions they followed a similar approach? I think you got the answer.

Take a break for a while

When we try hard to achieve goals in life we sometimes get into the rut of doing things which has an effect our thinking process. Without a good thinking process and creativity how do you propose to achieve what you desire the most? In my personal experience taking a short break helps when you feel that you have reached a road block on proceeding ahead. This short break recharges you and helps you to think of a solution which you have never thought of before. Spend sometime with friends and family. Try to socialize a little and when you feel that you are completely recharged give your dreams a second shot.

To sum it up these lines can be the best one………

“Bheega Hua Aadmi Baarish Se Nahin Darta”

Life is all about leaning, adopting and converting all the struggles that we experience into something positive.

“STRESS” Management through Alphabets

alphabet_a_largeAlways take time for yourself, at least 30 minutes per day.

Be aware of your own stress meter: Know when to step back and cool down.

Concentrate on controlling your own situation, without controlling everybody else.

Daily exercise will burn off the stress chemicals.

Eat lots of fresh fruit, veggies, bread and water, give your body the best for it to perform at its best.

Forgive others, don’t hold grudges and be tolerant — not everyone is as capable as you..

Gain perspective on things, how important is the issue?

Hugs, kisses and laughter: Have fun and don’t be afraid to share your feelings with others.

Identify stressors and plan to deal with them better next time..

Judge your own performance realistically; don’t set goals out of your own reach.

Keep a positive attitude, your outlook will influence outcomes and the way others treat you.

Limit alcohol, drugs and other stimulants, they affect your perception and behaviour…

Manage money well, seek advice and save at least 10 per cent of what you earn.

No is a word you need to learn to use without feeling guilty.

Outdoor activities by yourself, or with friends and family, can be a great way to relax….

Play your favourite music rather than watching television.

Quit smoking: It is stressing your body daily, not to mention killing you too.

Relationships: Nurture and enjoy them, learn to listen more and talk less…..

Sleep well, with a firm mattress and a supportive pillow; don’t overheat yourself and allow plenty of ventilation.

Treat yourself once a week with a massage, dinner out, the movies: Moderation is the key.

Understand things from the other person’s point of view……

Verify information from the source before exploding.

Worry less, it really does not get things completed better or quicker.

Xpress: Make a regular retreat to your favourite space, make holidays part of your yearly plan and budget…….

Yearly goal setting: Plan what you want to achieve based on your priorities in your career, relationships, etc.

Zest for life: Each day is a gift, smile and be thankful that you are a part of the bigger picture……..

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”

Two line stories-Keep it short & Simple

We all love stories – to narrate and hear! Here are some short stories (really short), which will touch your hearts and you wouldn’t mind reading them again. They are stories of a thousand emotions packed in just a few words. Read, enjoy and share!

I hope these stories will make you feel like a piece of you was just found and lost, or the reverse.

Some of the shortest two line stories, with a beautiful meanings..

Ravan was Ram’s guru.

www.hdnicewallpapers.com

Ravan was a Brahmin, the son of Rishi Vaishrava, grandson of Pulatsya. Ram, though God incarnate, was born in a family of Kshatriyas. In the caste hierarchy, Ram was of lower rank. As a Brahmin, Ravan was custodian of Brahma-gyan (the knowledge of God). Killing him meant Brahma-hatya-paap, the sin of Brahminicide, that Ram had to wash away through penance and prayer. Another reason why this atonement was important was because Ravan was Ram’s guru.

The story goes that after firing the fatal arrow on the battlefield of Lanka, Ram told his brother, Lakshman, “Go to Ravan quickly before he dies and request him to share whatever knowledge he can. A brute he may be, but he is also a great scholar.”

The obedient Lakshman rushed across the battlefield to Ravan’s side and whispered in his ears, “Demon-king, do not let your knowledge die with you. Share it with us and wash away your sins.”

Ravan responded by simply turning away. An angry Lakshman went back to Ram,

“He is as arrogant as he always was, too proud to share anything.” Ram comforted his brother and asked him softly, “Where did you stand while asking Ravan for knowledge?”

“Next to his head so that I hear what he had to say clearly.” Ram smiled, placed his bow on the ground and walked to where Ravan lay. Lakshman watched in astonishment as his divine brother knelt at Ravan’s feet.

With palms joined, with extreme humility, Ram said, “Lord of Lanka, you abducted my wife, a terrible crime for which I have been forced to punish you. Now, you are no more my enemy. I bow to you and request you to share your wisdom with me.

Please do that for if you die without doing so, all your wisdom will be lost forever to the world.” To Lakshman’s surprise, Ravan opened his eyes and raised his arms to salute Ram, “If only I had more time as your teacher than as your enemy. Standing at my feet as a student should, unlike your rude younger brother, you are a worthy recipient of my knowledge.

I have very little time so I cannot share much but let me tell you one important lesson I have learnt in my life.

Things that are bad for you seduce you easily; you run towards them impatiently. But things that are actually good for you, fail to attract you; you shun them creatively, finding powerful excuses to justify your procrastination.

That is why I was impatient to abduct Sita but avoided meeting you. This is the wisdom of my life, Ram. With these words, Ravan died.

The crab said to the wave: I considered u as one of my best friends; then what made u do this

The wave replied: A fisherman was following your footprints; that’s why I cleared off…..
